| In addition to databases, files are an important part of many systems. For example, data, work, temporary, interface or protected files often form part of the system. Ensuring these are processed in a timely manner and do not continue to build up unchecked may be key to the efficiency of your systems. These may be recorded directly within folders on the file system itself - e.g. new files being created locally within a directory, or as part of a separate system such as FTP, file uploads via a web site or XML interface files. Likewise, monitoring access to sensitive information may be equally important. For example, in order to keep a record of who or which process accessed a particular file or files, or who may have deleted files from a directory etc. Monitoring files, directories and associated accesses manually is extremely difficult and time consuming, especially in a more generic way and across multiple servers. With the Sentry-go Quick File/Directory Monitor, monitoring these aspects of your systems is quick & easy to achieve. Click on an item below for more details ... |

| File Access Monitoring | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| In addition to monitoring the file system itself, the Quick File/Directory Monitor can also record user access information - i.e. who accessed the file or directory, which user updated the file last, or who may have deleted it etc. This can be performed either as part of the above checks or as separate specific monitoring checks.
Information can be recorded & exported for analysis using an application such as Microsoft Excel or viewed directly from the monitor using a number of different web-based reports. |

| Log File & Event Log Monitoring | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Another aspect of file monitoring revolves around the content of files. For example, records written to a text base log file or, as is common with Windows servers, events written to the Windows Event Logs.
With Sentry-go, keywords & phrases can be used to scan and report on issues as they are written to these log files, as scan other parameters shown above for Event Logs. All without the need for manual intervention. |
